Carlos Alcaraz silenced his critics in style, winning the Monte-Carlo Masters to claim his 18th career title after a rough few weeks on the court. The world No. 2 bounced back strongly from his early exit in Miami, showing confidence and resilience on the clay.
Reflecting on recent struggles, the 20-year-old admitted the last month was “difficult” and that public pressure weighed heavily on him. But with his victory in Monte Carlo, Alcaraz had a simple five-word message for his doubters: “Talking is easy and free.”
Alcaraz is wasting no time—he’s already preparing for the Barcelona Open, which begins just two days after his Monte-Carlo win.
Now regaining form, he’s learning to block out the noise. He acknowledged the sky-high expectations fans and pundits have, even joking:
“I guess it’s winning every game 2-0, never losing.”
He added that while some results disappointed both him and his supporters, he’s learned to view every defeat as part of the journey:
“There’s no such thing as too little anymore—they’re all learning experiences.”
Despite not expecting to win in Monte Carlo, the title has restored his momentum heading into the rest of the clay-court season. With a strong record in Barcelona—he’s unbeaten in his last 10 matches there and won the tournament in 2022 and 2023—Alcaraz is eager to compete on home soil once again.
“I gained a lot of confidence in Monte Carlo… I’m feeling very good physically. I’m ready to compete and feel the love of my people in Barcelona.”
With the clay season heating up, Carlos Alcaraz is back in rhythm—and he’s letting his game do the talking.
