As the clay-court season heats up, one name rises above the rest — Iga Swiatek.
With unmatched grit and graceful brutality on the red dirt, the 23-year-old Pole has turned clay into her personal kingdom. Her dominance isn’t just visible — it’s backed by stats that scream legend status.
Ahead of her 2024 clay debut in Stuttgart, here are three jaw-dropping stats that define her already iconic legacy:
1. Win Record That Rivals the Greats
Swiatek has played 100 matches on clay — and she’s won 89 of them.
That’s an 89% win rate, the best of any active player and one of the best in history. The only legends ahead of her? Chris Evert (94.2%), Margaret Court (90.8%), and Steffi Graf (89.2%). Yes, she’s in that league.
She was beaten just twice last year on clay — once by Rybakina, once by Zheng Qinwen — proving how rare it is to catch her slipping on this surface.
2. Titles Galore — and Counting
Out of 22 career WTA titles, a staggering 10 have come on clay.
That’s double digits, and no active player even comes close. Sabalenka? Just two. Gauff? One.
Swiatek is the only current WTA player to have cracked 10 titles on clay. And if she adds three more this season? She’ll tie Serena Williams at 13 and break into the Top 10 clay champions of all time.
3. French Open Royalty
Her 2024 French Open run was the stuff of champions — saving a match point against Naomi Osaka, then storming to the title against Jasmine Paolini.
That marked her fourth Roland Garros title (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024), tying her with the great Justine Henin.
Only Evert (7) and Graf (6) have more in the Open Era — and Swiatek’s not done yet.
She’s also the first woman since Henin to win three French Opens in a row, and has now surpassed legends like Serena, Monica Seles, and Margaret Court — who each stopped at three.
Swiatek isn’t just good on clay — she’s rewriting the story of dominance. With youth, confidence, and history on her side, this season could see her cement her status as the greatest clay-courter of her generation — and maybe beyond.
