SHOCK AXE: Rangers’ Loan Star Vaclav Cerny TOLD TO LEAVE After Brutal Meeting with Wolfsburg Boss

Vaclav Cerny, the former Rangers winger, has officially been told he’s up for sale by Wolfsburg following a direct and brutal meeting with the club’s new manager, Dutchman Paul Simonis.

Despite enjoying a strong loan spell at Ibrox, Rangers never secured a purchase option for the Czech international, meaning he was expected to return to pre-season training in Germany. His future at Wolfsburg hinged on whether Simonis would see him as part of his long-term plans.

However, reports from Germany have now confirmed that Cerny has been placed on the transfer list as Wolfsburg undergo a major squad overhaul driven by financial pressure. The club’s owners, automotive giants Volkswagen—based in Lower Saxony—are in the midst of cost-cutting plans that include laying off around 35,000 workers (a quarter of their workforce) to save approximately £3.5 billion over five years.

These cuts are directly impacting the football club, which will now trim its squad significantly. As part of this shake-up, Cerny has been informed he is free to leave. He’s not the only casualty—Tiago Tomas, who’s reportedly attracting interest from Bayer Leverkusen, is also on the chopping block. Wolfsburg hopes to earn a sizable sum from their sales.

Former Celtic defender Moritz Jenz has also been deemed surplus to requirements, along with Bartol Franjic, Nicolas Cozza, and Kofi Amoako.

Cerny’s departure signals the end of any hopes Rangers fans had of seeing the winger return to Glasgow, as Wolfsburg look to offload him in a summer clear-out.
