The Los Angeles Lakers’ 2024–25 season came to an unexpectedly early end. Entering the NBA playoffs as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference, expectations were high for a deep postseason run. However, the team was overpowered by the Minnesota Timberwolves, bringing their campaign to a disappointing close.
With the offseason now underway, the Lakers are left to reflect on a year filled with ups and downs. Among the standout storylines was the addition of rookie guard Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James. Selected in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft, Bronny’s presence drew extra attention to the team, putting him under intense scrutiny.
Despite a rocky start, Bronny managed to handle the spotlight with composure. Yet, as the season progressed, he acknowledged the weight of expectations.
“I was under a lot of pressure,” Bronny admitted. “It was getting to me a little bit.”
Critics were quick to judge his every move, but Bronny remained focused on growth. Rather than letting the noise affect him, he stayed committed to improving his game and developing as a professional.
While he’s not a regular part of the Lakers’ rotation just yet, Bronny continues to work toward becoming a full-time contributor. Reflecting on his rookie season, he also shared what it meant to play alongside his father.
“It’s a blessing,” he told FOX Sports. “Being able to learn from him, not only as a player but as a dad — it’s a different kind of relationship. I try to take full advantage of it because it’s something most people don’t get to experience. It’s been an amazing ride for me. I’m excited to keep learning from him, whether he stays or not. Either way, I’m just looking forward to what’s next.”
If Bronny makes the most of the offseason, there’s optimism within the Lakers organization that he could secure a spot in the rotation next season. The team sees his potential and believes he can develop into a meaningful contributor in the NBA.
