Lewis Hamilton says he has “no doubts” about Ferrari’s future success, despite early season scrutiny and a growing gap to the front-runners in the Formula 1 Constructors’ Championship.
After four races, Ferrari trail McLaren by a staggering 94 points, and Hamilton’s best finish so far has been fifth in Bahrain—just behind teammate Charles Leclerc. But for Hamilton, who left Mercedes to chase an eighth world title with the Prancing Horse, patience is part of the process.
“You can’t work with a team and change things overnight,” Hamilton told reporters, including PlanetF1.com, during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend. “We’ve spent this time really getting to know each other.”
The seven-time World Champion acknowledged that Ferrari, as Formula 1’s most iconic and closely-watched team, will always draw headlines—especially in Italy.
“It’s to be expected. It’s the greatest team in Formula 1 history. Of course, there’s more stories, more opinions—it hasn’t always been smooth sailing,” he said.
Despite the intense spotlight and pressure, Hamilton believes the team has all the ingredients needed for long-term success.
“There’s so many great things within this team. We want to harness that passion and energy, and protect it too—because this team gets more attention than anyone else,” he said.
“Everyone here has their heart in it. We’re all riding this rollercoaster together.”
He emphasized that improvements will come in stages: some in the short term, others over the long haul. For now, he’s focused on unity and steady progress.
“I have no doubts that we will get to where we plan to be. It’s just going to take time.”
Ferrari haven’t won a Constructors’ title since 2008. For Hamilton, who spent 12 seasons with Mercedes, this new chapter is about more than quick wins—it’s about building something lasting.
