The Dallas Cowboys may have quietly landed a future star in edge rusher Donovan Ezeiruaku, a player whose blend of production, athleticism, and leadership could prove to be a major steal — even in a stacked defensive front.
While Ezeiruaku didn’t generate major buzz ahead of the draft, that may change quickly. Known as “Easy” (a nickname he shared with us this week), the former Boston College standout led all of college football in pass rush productivity in 2024. But reducing him to just a pass rusher doesn’t do justice to his full skill set.
Ezeiruaku’s explosiveness at the line of scrimmage, rare 34-inch arm length, and upper-body power consistently flash on film. He plays with purpose — especially with his hands — and his bench press showing at the Combine (22 reps) edged out even first-round pick Tyler Booker, widely viewed as one of the draft’s most powerful linemen.
His combination of length, strength, and natural instincts on the edge give him the potential to develop into a complete three-down player. Yet, despite all this upside, he’ll likely begin his career behind three proven pass rushers: Micah Parsons, Dante Fowler, and Sam Williams.
Parsons is in a league of his own. Fowler remains a reliable source of pressure, seemingly able to notch double-digit sacks with ease. And while Williams has struggled with injuries, his potential remains sky-high when healthy.
That likely places Ezeiruaku as the fourth option in the Cowboys’ edge rotation — and that’s not a criticism. It’s a testament to the depth and talent Dallas has assembled on the front line.
Ezeiruaku isn’t expected to carry the load right away. Instead, he has time to physically develop (he stands 6-2, 248 pounds) and bring the same leadership qualities that made him a team captain at Boston College. Once he refines his game as a run defender, the total package — tools, character, and relentless motor — could make him one of the biggest draft-day bargains of the year.
Because in the NFL, it’s not always about who’s best right now. Sometimes, it’s about who can’t be ignored when their moment arrives.
