The 2025 tennis season has already delivered thrilling moments and career-defining wins — and with them, massive paydays for some of the WTA’s biggest stars. Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, and Iga Swiatek have all padded their bank accounts this year, with Sabalenka currently topping the earnings leaderboard.
Gauff’s Roland Garros Breakthrough Boosts Her Earnings
Coco Gauff clinched her first-ever French Open title and second Grand Slam overall by defeating Aryna Sabalenka in a hard-fought final: 6-7(5), 6-2, 6-4. The victory in Paris netted the 21-year-old American a whopping $2.9 million, the biggest single paycheck on the WTA Tour this year.
“This one was just harder,” Gauff reflected after the win. “I really felt like this was a Slam I should win at least once in my career. I didn’t want to live with that regret.”
With this win, Gauff’s 2025 prize money now totals $5.5 million, placing her second on the earnings list for the season. Her consistency has been impressive — runner-up finishes in Madrid and Rome, plus a quarterfinal appearance at the Australian Open, show her all-surface prowess.
Sabalenka Still Leads Despite Final Loss
Despite her loss to Gauff at Roland Garros, world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka remains the top earner in 2025. She took home $1.45 million for her runner-up finish in Paris, raising her total haul to $5.9 million.
Sabalenka has had a standout year overall — she reached the Australian Open final (losing to Madison Keys), won titles in Miami and Madrid, and finished runner-up in Indian Wells. Her season began with a trophy at the WTA 500 event in Brisbane, helping her stay ahead in the financial rankings.
Swiatek and Others Trail Behind
Iga Swiatek, a five-time major champion and current world No. 7, has earned $3.2 million this year — without reaching a final. Her steady form has taken her to five semi-finals, including deep runs at both the Australian and French Opens.
Madison Keys, the Australian Open champion, has collected $3.5 million, thanks in large part to her maiden Grand Slam win which brought in $2.2 million.
Rising stars and established names fill out the rest of the top earners:
-
Mirra Andreeva (No. 6) – $3.49 million
-
Jasmine Paolini (No. 4) – $3.08 million
-
Jessica Pegula (No. 3) – $1.78 million
-
Zheng Qinwen (No. 5) – $1.36 million
Raducanu Makes Quiet Climb
Emma Raducanu, now ranked No. 37, has earned $709,201 so far this season. Her biggest success came at the Miami Open, where she reached the quarterfinals and pocketed $189,075. While she’s not yet back to her US Open-winning form, the British star is trending upward.
With half the season still to go, the battle for top earnings — and the WTA Finals in Riyadh — is heating up. Sabalenka may lead the race for now, but Gauff’s latest triumph proves she’s ready to challenge for both titles and prize money supremacy.
