Carlos Alcaraz is already making history in tennis, but for him, success isn’t just about trophies—it’s about character.
At just 21 years old, the young Spaniard has captured four Grand Slam titles and built a reputation as one of the brightest stars of the next generation. But in a recent appearance on the Louis Vuitton [Extended] podcast, Alcaraz shared that his biggest goal isn’t just dominance on the court—it’s being remembered as a good person.
“I think the most important thing is being kind, being a good person. For me, it’s the most important thing,” Alcaraz said. “Behave well on the court, give good values on and off the court—that could be a good influence for the kids.”
Alcaraz grew up idolizing two of the sport’s greatest champions: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. But what inspired him most wasn’t just their iconic matches—it was their humility, sportsmanship, and grace.
“When I see some players being so rude, I feel like, ‘What happened with this guy?’ But then I look at Rafa or Roger… always kind, always respectful, and still performing incredibly. When I started playing, I thought, ‘Okay, I want to be like these guys.’ I want to be the same for the next generation.”
That mindset seems to be paying off. Around the tennis circuit, Alcaraz is known not just for his fierce forehand but for his ever-present smile and down-to-earth nature. And he credits much of that to his tight-knit support team—especially his longtime coach and former World No. 1, Juan Carlos Ferrero.
“Probably thanks to Juan Carlos, I’m the player I am right now. We’ve spent so much time together. I’ve learned so much from him—not just as a player, but as a person.”
He also spoke fondly of his father, who passed down a deep love for the sport.
“My dad played tennis too, and his passion became mine. He taught me to play with love and to do it with all my heart. That’s one of the most important lessons I’ve learned.”
In a sport where tempers sometimes flare and egos run high, Carlos Alcaraz is carving a different path—one shaped by humility, kindness, and a desire to lead by example.
