Can Hamilton Bounce Back Hamilton Hints at Speed Boost After Car Troubles

Lewis Hamilton has revealed that Ferrari has finally pinpointed a major issue that has been holding back his performance in the opening races of the 2025 Formula 1 season—and an upgrade is on the way.

After making a dream start to life in red with a commanding sprint race win in Shanghai, Hamilton has since struggled to keep pace with team-mate Charles Leclerc during the full-length Grands Prix in both China and Japan.

At Suzuka, the seven-time world champion could only qualify eighth—behind rookie Isack Hadjar—and finished the race in seventh, gaining just one position. Meanwhile, Leclerc delivered a near-flawless performance to secure fourth place behind Max Verstappen and the two McLarens.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the race, Hamilton opened up about the team’s findings:
“No, I think I did the best I could today – just generally lacking performance compared to the cars ahead, especially Mercedes, McLaren, and of course Red Bull.”

He went on to share Ferrari’s recent discovery:
“We’ve found something on the car that’s been underperforming for the last three races. I’m really hoping that once it’s fixed, the results will start coming. Right now, I’m losing just over a tenth per lap because of it, so fingers crossed it’s resolved by the next race.”

With Ferrari planning to roll out an upgrade package soon, Hamilton is looking to bounce back stronger and reignite his campaign after a frustrating dip in form.
