Liverpool are reportedly preparing a summer move for Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso, a player also targeted by Manchester City, according to Football Insider.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has long been Liverpool’s undisputed first-choice right-back, playing a pivotal role in the club’s recent Premier League title triumph. However, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season and ongoing links to Real Madrid, speculation around his future continues to grow.
With Real reportedly close to convincing Alexander-Arnold to make the switch to Spain, Liverpool appear to be actively scouting potential replacements. Cambiaso has emerged as a top candidate, with Football Insider describing the Italian as an “ideal” target for the Reds.
The 25-year-old Juventus star, comfortable playing on either flank, is known for his two-footed ability, strong technical skills, and intelligent distribution from the back. His vision and long-range passing make him a versatile asset who fits well into the possession-based system new manager Arne Slot is expected to deploy.
Manchester City, however, have been monitoring Cambiaso as a long-term successor to Kyle Walker and reportedly initiated contact as early as January. Juventus initially valued the player at £75 million, but that fee could drop to around £40 million if the club fails to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Although Liverpool are firmly in the mix, reports suggest Cambiaso favours a move to the Etihad, giving Pep Guardiola’s side the upper hand in the transfer race.
Still, Liverpool remain hopeful. Cambiaso’s profile aligns with their tactical needs, and his growing importance for the Italian national team only strengthens his case as a smart acquisition.
In the meantime, Liverpool will look to maintain momentum as they prepare to face Chelsea this Sunday, fresh off their league-clinching win over Tottenham.
